With countless challenges ahead for anyone hired to helm the project, Summit would be well advised to take their buckets of cash and invest in a director who knows makeup, special effects and young love and won’t balk at the thought of a rapidly growing vampire baby. Not to mention inheriting the vampires and werewolves of past directors Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz and David Slade.

A brief warning, Twi-hards—if you don’t want any inside dirt on the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon, stop reading now and go elsewhere!

Life & Style dishes some details on New Moon in its latest issue, revealing some crucial variations that the cinematic version takes from the Stephenie Meyer book of the same name.

First off, as has already been revealed, Robert Pattinson’s role of Edward Cullen has been beefed up from the book version so that, instead of being summoned as a mere voice in Bella Swan’s head, he will appear as an apparition. And apparently, Bella will commit some feat of derring-do and push fate in order to make Cullen appear to her.

Also, the film will include a major action scene in which Laurent battles back against the werewolves out to destroy him.

Perhaps most significantly, while Meyer’s novel has Cullen telling Bella that he will only turn into a vampire if they marry, a very different ultimatum will be used in the movie. Have your say in the comments section: How do you think Edward’s ultimatum will differ in the movie?

The vampy leading man was auctioned off today in Cannes for the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS 2009 Cocktail Party. The bidding got so high that Pattinson was split between two bidders, who each paid $20,000 for the chance to meet, greet and win a kiss on the cheek from the ‘Twilight’ idol. Watch the video to see Harvey Weinstein introduce a blushing Rob. Movie mogul Harvey explains that all three of his young daughters want to marry the actor!

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger auctioned off a Segway, while Josh Hartnett and Danny Glover also took the stage during the auction. Another item that was auctioned off included a saxophone donated by Bill Clinton that sold for $130,000.

The latest issue of Life & Style magazine sure makes it seem like “Twilight” co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are sharing a thing off screen as well. They’re on the cover under a headline that says: “It’s On!”

The mag reports that the two took whatever it is they’re doing to the next level when Stewart bonded with Pattinson’s parents during his birthday party last week in Vancouver, British Columbia, where “New Moon” is shooting.

As Cannes 2009 approached its final days a clear picture emerged of the haves and have-nots, as streamlined teams of buyers focused in on broadly commercial fare with theatrical potential.

Summit International did a roaring trade on its Twilight sequel New Moon and the new Robert Pattinson title Remember Me, while Focus Features International virtually sold out on the upcoming Kevin Macdonald Roman Britain epic The Eagle Of The Ninth.

IM Global diversified its slate and sold out its grindhouse homage Bitch Slap, closing deals here with Momentum in the UK, Splendid in Germany, among many others.

It’s already been quite a year for him and it looks like this is only the beginning for young stud Robert Pattinson.Following filming duties in Vancouver, the “Edward Cullen” actor is currently in France for the annual Cannes Film Fest, where it was just announced that he has been cast in the film “Bel Ami.”

The film is an adaptation of “Guy de Maupassant’s” short story and is scheduled to begin shooting in Paris next year.

In addition to his role in the “Twilight” series and “Bel Ami,” the actor will be starring in the upcoming film “Remember Me.” He also plays Spanish artist Salvador Dalí in the upcoming biopic “Little Ashes.”

Wait, there’s more! The 23-year-old has also confirmed he is to star in a fourth “Twilight” movie.
