Twilight star Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the rest of the cast could be getting up close and personal with fans very soon.

Taking a page from the cult success of the “Star Trek” franchise, “Twilight” movie producer Summit Entertainment is planning to launch a series of conventions for Twilight fans over the next three years during the course of the flim series’ run.

The first convention will be held just outside New York, Aug. 28 at the Hilton Parsippany Hotel in Parsippany, N.J..

Other weekend conventions will follow in Chicago; Miami; Seattle; Nashville; San Francisco; Atlanta; Los Angeles; Charlotte, N.C.; Minneapolis; Phoenix; Boston; Toronto; and Portland, Ore

If you’re over 18, then the name Robert Pattinson may not mean much to you. But mention it to your teenage daughter and you’ll be deafened by her squeals of excitement.

British hunk Robert, 23, is the handsome young star of Twilight, the teen fantasy saga giving Harry Potter a run for its money.

Based on the hugely popular fantasy novels by Stephanie Meyer, the first Twilight movie last year enjoyed one of the biggest opening weekends in box office history.

Robert stars as Edward Cullen, a 108-year-old “vegetarian” vampire who falls in love with beautiful teenager Bella Swan, played by 19-year-old Kristen Stewart.

And this weekend, despite being at pains to deny a romantic relationship in the past, Robert and Kristen were caught snuggling up together at a Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver where they’re filming the hotly-awaited movie sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

But was it really a case of afterlife imitating art? Apparently not. In an exclusive interview with the vampire just days before the pictures were taken, heart-throb Robert insists he’s still single and adds: “I don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t know why.

“You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens.

“You sit there and you’re like ‘I’m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models’ but I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has revealed he found filming topless scenes for the forthcoming movie New Moon awkward.

The 23-year-old’s vampire character Edward Cullen strips off during a kissing scene with co-star Kristen Stewart, who plays his love interest Bella Swan, in the new movie.

In an interview with the Daily Record, Pattinson said: “I was so uncomfortable doing it. It really is so embarrassing.”

But, despite his awkwardness, Pattinson insisted that he still enjoyed portraying Edward.

British film director David Slade has been hired by Summit Entertainment to direct the third film of the Twilight Saga, ‘Eclipse’.

The announcement was made by Summit earlier this year after months of speculation over who would direct the movie, which has a release date of June 30, 2010.

For Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, those months apart — while she was in L.A. filming The Runaways and he was in NYC working on Remember Me — must seem like they never happened, as things heat right back up between them on the Eclipse set in vancouver. “They are definitely a couple and they are very much in love. Neither of them is rushing into anything, they are just having a good time hanging out, but they plan to explore their relationship even more while they are filming,” an insider tells OK!.

And while Kristen may have worried Rob would be distracted by a certain pretty blonde co-star and forget about her, instead, absence has definitely made the heart grow fonder!

Breaking Dawn will be made into a movie!

While there’s been no official announcement that all systems are go for a fourth Twilight flick, a rep for Summit Entertainment promises that Eclipse will not be the last we see of Robert Pattinson & company…

“The fans should rest assured the we’re working with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen,” the rep said. “As in all creative processes, things take time. We want to make sure we get it right.”

And as Twilight fans know, that probably means softening the more hard-core aspects of Breaking Dawn.
