Twilight stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson lead ‘sad, desolate life’

Stewart is familiar to millions of fans as Bella Swan, heroine of the Twilight films. But the 23-year-old actress said she and Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, are trapped by their newfound fame.
“Edward is actually a really good parallel to fame. As a vampire, he has a sad, desolate life – fame is the same,” she said.

“I don’t want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie. Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everybody’s so obsessive.”

In a separate interview in Harper’s Bazaar, to promote the Twilight sequel New Moon, Stewart said she finds it impossible to go out because she is hounded by paparazzi.Pattison, 19, also has to contend with screaming female fans wherever he goes, and last summer was clipped by a cab while fleeing from a mob of lovestruck teenage girls.

“At least that’s an experience, something new,” he said. “If it’s just screaming – and I know this sounds so ridiculous – that gets old. But sometimes when there’s literal chaos, it’s like being in a war zone, and that’s kind of exciting. You’re just running through the crowd of people chasing after you and no one knows what’s going on.”

He was also full of praise for his co-star. “She’s a unique girl. You really don’t meet many people like Kristen,” he said.
