Matthew Belloni, a columnist at The Hollywood Reporter, proposes that this year’s Oscar producers do exactly that to help boost ratings for the annual awards show. It’s an intriguing idea, but would it work?

When Titanic won Best Picture in 1998 it was the highest-rated Oscars in history, and the ratings have trended downward ever since. Last year’s telecast got a makeover and a new host, Hugh Jackman, and got a 10 precent boost in ratings. Belloni thinks having, say, five stars premiere exclusive footage/trailers of their new films over the course of the Oscar evening would get you all fired up to watch again. (Apparently, when the MTV Movie Awards showed exclusive footage of New Moon earlier this year, ratings shot up 92 percent among the coveted youth audience.)

Another star who had girls literally falling at his feet this year was Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson. From the speculation of romance with co-star Kristen Stewart to having his six-pack painted on for New Moon, R-Pattz became 2009’s biggest heartthrob.

New Moon hunk Robert Pattinson beat stars such as Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and his fellow Twilight stars Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Kellan Lutz to top the survey by Park Christmas Savings to see who we’d most like to kiss under the mistletoe.

Robert Pattinson was the most popular choice securing 54 per cent of the votes cast.

Next up was Johnny Depp with 17 per cent and Brad Pitt was third with 10 per cent.

Taylor Lautner came seventh on the poll, which also saw X Factor winner Joe McElderry come in at fourth place.

Robert Pattinson! While some of you said you don’t get the Robert Pattinson love, it’s undeniable that he is the winner of the 2009 Sugar Award for hottest bachelor. More than 40 percent of the votes went to the man also known as Edward Cullen, who beat out runners-up Chace Crawford, James Franco, and Ryan Gosling. Robert’s technically single, but we have a feeling he might be seeing a certain someone. Oh well, he’ll just have to stay in our vampire fantasies.

Kojo Pictures distributes Little Ashes starring Robert Pattinson

Star of “Twilight” and this year’s hottest new film “New Moon” acting sensation Robert Pattinson takes on a diverse role in his latest film, Little Ashes, which premieres this week in Adelaide.

The film is being distributed by South Australia’s fastest growing film production and distribution company Kojo Pictures.

Robert Pattinson, the young British star of Twilight, takes on the challenging role of playing the eccentric and flamboyant artist, Salvador Dali.

Katy Perry has blasted reports linking her to Twilight star Robert Pattinson, insisting she is devoted to boyfriend Russell Brand.

Perry was said to have been “flirting outrageously” with British hunk Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the hit franchise, at karaoke bar Dimples in Los Angeles on Wednesday (16Dec09). The pair was spotted sharing a car and laughing after leaving the venue.
