Robert Pattinson was “Mr. Animal Man” on the set of ‘Water for Elephants’.

The British actor plays a veterinary student who joins the circus in thenew movie and Robert revealed he loved his time with the animals on set, especially the giraffes and elephants.

He said: “I had a neat experience with a baby giraffe who wouldn’t respond to anyone but me. There’s one scene where it’s tied up to a pole, and there’s cages with tigers on one side and lions on the other. “All the animals moved forward to the front of their cages, staring at the little giraffe, which freaked out so much that no one could calm it down for the shot. And I went up, gave her a little twig and the giraffe for some reason, calmed down and started licking my head. I thought, ‘Wow, I’m like Mr. Animal Man in this thing!’ I didn’t understand what was going on and it just happened so many times throughout the shoot.”

Robert also bonded so well with elephant Tai that he broke down in tears when she finished filming.

He explained: “I really felt a bond with the elephant Tai. She really had this aura. There was something incredibly peaceful about being around this huge creature who is incredibly gentle. I cried on the day she finished filming.”

Robert Pattinson says he hates Twitter so much he wants to shove someone’s smartphone ‘down their throat’ if he sees them using the social networking site to tell others where he is.

RPattz reckons Twitter is ‘weird’ and he has ‘never’ used it and ‘never found anything interesting on it’.

He said he thinks Twitter is ‘sneaky’ and he’d rather have a one-to-one conversation with a fan than for them to write about him on the site.

The star, 24, speaking at an event in Sydney, Australia, alongside Reese Witherspoon to publicise their new movie Water For Elephants, also revealed that one of the most romantic things he has ever done was leaving a rose in a girl’s school locker when he was aged 12.

But speaking about Twitter, Rob said, ‘It’s a weird thing that I’ve never understood why it’s so popular, apart from people who do it for their business.

‘Whenever I go into a restaurant and there’s one other person in the restaurant, I can see them on their phone using it.

‘I literally want to go over and shove the thing right down their throat.’

Rob also said he’d prefer for a fan to say ‘hi’ and have a one-on-one interaction, rather than put it on Twitter and find themselves among a crowd of people.

Robert Pattinson spends most of his spare time on his own because he has nobody to hang out with.

The 24-year-old British actor – who is dating his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-star Kristen Stewart – admits he often has to call people and beg them to let him go out with them because he hardly ever gets invited anywhere due to his hectic career.

He said: “I was thinking the other day that no one ever rings me up or anything.

“No one ever asks me to do anything. When I’m not working, I’m one of those people who calls up their entire phone book to say, ‘Hey, what are you doing? Are you doing anything tonight? Can I go with you?’

“I just hang there (in my hotel room) and get drunk. It’s terrible.”

Robert has made no secret of the fact he is uncomfortable with fame, and has jokingly claimed he would feel safer if he was allowed to carry a gun.

He admitted in an interview with The Sun newspaper: “I want to get really good at fighting because then I can just walk down the street.

“There is something about it. Or just get a gun. I would feel a little bit more comfortable walking around with a Taser.

“But no, I mean, I try to avoid as much hassle as possible.”

The actor – who along with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz met fans at the UK premiere of their new movie ‘Water For Elephants’ at Westfield London shopping centre on May 03, 2011 – also admitted he dreams of entering politics in the future.

He added: “It sounds so ridiculous for me to say I’m curious about politics and might be a politician one day. I’d love to but I wouldn’t want to be held accountable.”
