Robert Pattinson Ruined ‘New Moon,’ Director Chris Weitz Claims! What A Diss! Robert Pattinson is gearing up for the intense promotional cycle behind the newest Twilight film Breaking Dawn, but New Moon director Chris Weitz says a much-maligned scene in the second installment is all his fault! Chris, 41, threw Rob, 25, under the bus on Twitter July 16, writing,”i’m watching NM and the FROLIC… WHAT WERE YOU SMOKING”// I can’t stay silent about this any more…it was ROB’s idea. Emoticon.” Source: Hollywood Life Robert Pattinson To Pursue Comedy After ‘Cosmopolis’? Laughable? Robert Pattinson just wrapped filming Cosmopolis in Toronto, Canada leaving fans wondering not only when he’ll meet up with Kristen Stewart again, but also what his next move (and movie) will be. Should the Twilight heart-throb, whose highly anticipated Breaking Dawn flick is set for a November première, still embrace the drama with deep, sometimes dark roles? Or perhaps the brooding actor should lighten up a bit and show off some of that British sarcasm and humor. Hollywood Life asked a few experts about Pattinson’s future, and the overriding opinion was that comedy should be king. “His Water for Elephants and Remember Me didn’t go over too well, so I’d stick away from drama,” said director Matthew Cole Weiss. “If he has comedic chops, that would gain him a lot more fans that aren’t teenage girls. But I think the best thing for him to do is work with HUGE directors in ensemble type films — like Soderbergh.” Even career strategist Dr. Philip Dembo weighed in, saying, “You have to look at the theme of Rob Pattinson’s roles; they have been primarily dark, misunderstood characters. I suggest he lighten it up and show us a different side to him.” Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are undoubtedly most well-known for their signature roles in The Twilight Saga, which is certainly not a bad thing given their millions of Twi-hard fans and all the accompanying popularity and renown, not to mention the paychecks. But, like all serious actors, the pair is probably hoping to eventually distance themselves from the Twilight zone. And, it’s not impossible to do. Actress Anne Hathaway comes to mind, as she got away from her Princess Diaries days with grittier flicks like Brokeback Mountain and a very fashionable appearance in The Devil Wears Prada. Whether Robert Pattinson can embrace his sense of humor, get on the laugh track and go from vampire Edward Cullen to full-out comedian remains to be seen. He has a great smile, though — might as well use it! Source: Gather Robert Pattinson Is a Sex Symbol According to ‘Potter’ Star Robert Pattinson was called a sex symbol by Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe! While most people agree with the sentiment, it was sort of funny to head Radcliffe say it! In comparing the two films – and essentially the characters Edward Cullen and Harry Potter – Radcliffe made a fair and true statement. “There’s more of a sexual energy behind Twilight fans because people have mostly grown up with me, they tend to think of me as an older brother kind of figure. Whereas I think Rob is the sex symbol. And also, I guess, he’s out there more than I am, going to parties and things,” he said. That is a very mature way to look at things. Since there are more girls who are obsessed with Pattinson than Radcliffe, you can probably see why Daniel’s comment makes a lot of sense. Even when Rob was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire he was older (and yes, the girls screamed then too!). Radcliffe was just a kid in the first few Potter films. He is certainly still good-looking and plenty of girls love him, but he just never got the attention that Rob gets and that’s his explanation. Robert Pattinson Finished Wrapping “Cosmopolis” on 07/14 Hi Res Photos I’ve added new high quality filming photos of Robert Pattinson onlocation of the finished wrap of his new movie, “Cosmopolis” in Toronto, Canada on July 14, 2011. Thanks to Setje for them! Breaking Dawn Spoilers Breaking Dawn, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart don’t hit theaters until November 18, but on the off chance you haven’t read the book and are dying to know how the story plays out, we’ll gladly fill you in on some spoilers. Coming up with spoilers for the final story in Stephenie Meyer’s vampire saga isn’t too hard. Why? Because the actual story was written a few years ago already — Breaking Dawn the book was published in 2008 and sold 6 million copies that year. But alas, there are still plenty of people who have no idea what happens in the story, and who are we to keep you in the dark? Here’s some key Breaking Dawn spoilers to get you back in the know: Seeing as it’s the fourth and final installment in the series, one would expect the story to contain some closure. And it does. The first part of the book/movie details Bella Swan and Edward Cullen’s marriage and honeymoon. You know, smiles, dancing, intimate moments together at the beach. All the good stuff. The second part of the story turns more serious and is written from the perspective of Jacob Black. In it, we see his wolf pack plan to destroy and kill Bella. Thankfully, she doesn’t die. In fact, quite the opposite happens. She lives AND gives birth to Edward’s baby. It’s also in the second act that Bella is turned into a vampire. The third and final section of the story shifts back to Bella’s perspective and tells the story of her transformation from a human being to a vampire. Turns out she quite enjoys it. But things aren’t all rosy, as the Voultouri decide Bella and her baby must be killed. After Alice, Jasper, Edward and Bella convince the Voultouri that crossbreeds pose no threat, they are all allowed to return home and live happily ever after. The end. Not only was he part of one of the most popular franchises in movie history, but he would soon find even greater success as the star of the worldwide hit, Twilight. But back in 2008, Rob was just doing his job as an actor, promoting his latest work in a series of interviews that would later reveal to be quite telling about bothHP and himself. Robert Pattinson, worldwide superstar and the unequivocal leader of the Twilight franchise, was just a struggling actor when he made his debut in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Little did he know that in a few short years, his life would forever change. When he was promoting the film, he revealed quite a few details of what life is like in the Harry fishbowl and how he teamed up with Rupert Grint for some male bonding. Revealed Robert, “I didn’t know how I would be interpreted, so I went into Harry Potterdetermined to be a real actor and kind of didn’t speak to anyone for awhile. I didn’t notice the transition to being accepted, but they are all really nice people. It seems like it should have been daunting, but it wasn’t. We did a bonding week where we made fools of ourselves, doing lots of improvising. I paired up with Rupert a lot.” “When Harry Potter came along, it was a huge step and a massive event in my life!” Robert was just a struggling actor and musician when he auditioned for the Harry Potter franchise. He soon revealed that it took a lot more than a little luck to get the job. “I was filming a movie in Cape Town, South Africa. I was just 17!” he stated. “The casting agent on the film Vanity Fair was the same agent working on Potter and I was the first person seen for any part on the film.” The challenges of filming any HP film are massive, as there are intricate sets, stunts and difficult shots to achieve to make the magic that happens with each epic film. Robert revealed that he found the challenge a bit tough sometimes. “It was a very physical part. The stuff in the maze, which was done in the beginning, was done on all huge action sets. The hedges were huge and hydraulically operated. I got hit by stuff and was pulled by ropes, and Dan (Radcliffe) and I were running around punching each other, so it was kind of vicious.” Source: Sheknows Actor Pattinson stayed under radar in Toronto For many of Robert Pattinson’s most ardent Canadian fans, the summer of 2011 is better known as hunting season. With the British heart-throb based in Toronto for his ongoing shoot on the David Cronenberg thriller “Cosmopolis,” devotees have been in a frenzy trying to suss out what they can about his comings and goings. The “Twilight” star, who typically draws hundreds of squealing fans to red carpet appearances and fan conventions, arrived in town several weeks ago to star in the big screen adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel. “I just want to see him … a glimpse of him would send me off to heaven,” a fan who identifies herself as Myra Munir wrote in an online plea for information at the website On Location Vacations. “So if you guys know anything please let me know … it honestly would be a dream come true.” Those looking for tips on where to stalk stars usually go online, where it’s become increasingly easy to find details on celebrity work schedules, party hangouts and even accommodations, says security expert Adrianne Fekete-Romanick. “There’s so many blogs and interactive websites and social networks that give you so much information, very little is kept private these days,” says Fekete-Romanick, director and owner of Star Quality Enterprises, which handled security for Toronto film shoots including “Phone Booth” with Colin Farrel and “S.W.A.T.” with Samuel L. Jackson. “There’s things that obviously get out and there’s going to be leaks of launch events, wrap events, personal autograph signings, or if (the star) is going to see an agent, meet an old friend. “Somehow, somebody tells one person and it’s kind of like that telephone thing where you tell one friend, they tell 10 and 10 and 10 and 10 and soon enough it’s all over the place and they don’t get a whole lot of rest and relaxation from the adoring fans.” Most filming for “Cosmopolis” — which co-stars Paul Giamatti, Jay Baruchel, Juliette Binoche, and Samantha Morton — has taken place undercover at an east-end studio. But several public shoots offered fans the prospect of a brush with fame. Celebrity blogger Will Wong says he was among hundreds of onlookers who caught wind of the film’s first outdoor foray on May 29, when “Cosmopolis” took over a downtown cafe. At another location, Wong says a handful of admirers waited until 3 a.m. for Pattinson, who rewarded their patience by taking individual photos with each one. “Generally the rule of thumb with him is the bigger the crowd the less likely he is to do it,” says Wong. “When it’s a small intimate group you’re more likely to get close to him.” Last week, dozens reportedly waited until 5 a.m. at what was purported to be Pattinson’s final downtown shoot. “Cosmopolis” is expected to wrap production July 19 in studio. Blogger Christine Bord, who runs On Location Vacations, says most leaks come from people who spot a public notice in their neighbourhood alerting them to an upcoming film shoot that could disrupt traffic or local businesses. “On occasion I do get information from a PA (production assistant) or somebody like that on the set,” says Bord, based just outside Syracuse, N.Y. But for the most part, inside information does not come from a film crew, says Bord, noting she is not well-regarded by some in the movie business. “A publicist threatened to ruin my career a couple of years ago if I didn’t stop what I was doing,” says Bord, who has also fielded queries about Bradley Cooper’s recent Montreal shoot for “The Words” and the Vancouver-based TV series “Fringe” and “Supernatural.” “(But) I think at this point if you’re savvy enough to get online and figure out how to do a search to try to find something filming, then you’re savvy enough to go on Twitter or Facebook and all the information is there for the most part. “I’m not the only person causing the problem.” Fekete-Romanick says production companies are cracking down on leaks in this Internet age. Her company generally encourages filmmakers to keep lists of who has what information and to avoid emailing sensitive material when they can fax or courier it instead. “Every production company is much more aware and much more conscious and they’re definitely putting forth an effort to protect their intelligence. However, I don’t think it’s always possible,” she says. “We have been hired to find out where the source of a leak is. However, the only way that you can do certain Internet investigation is through IP addresses and whatnot and people get very crafty. They’ll go to their local library or they will go to a public computer to do this kind of thing. And I mean, at the end of the day, by the time it’s out, it’s too late to be proactive, you have to be reactive.” By and large, the fervour around Pattinson in Toronto does not seem to be as intense as movie shoots he’s helmed in Vancouver, Louisiana or New York, says Bord, who estimates she’s received between 200 and 300 comments about his Toronto appearance, versus roughly 3,000 comments for his final “Twilight” shoots in Louisiana. Wong notes that “Twilight” fans turn out for more than just Pattinson, pointing to co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner as big draws, as well. The supernatural franchise, which centres on the tortured love between a high school girl and a century-old vampire, has a strong tween following, notes Bord. Young, female fans seem to be the most ardent about following a star to set, she says, noting that “Twilight” and “Gossip Girl” are two of her most popular topics. Pattinson’s latest venture is skewed somewhat older and broader, with “Cosmopolis” following a wild, 24-hour odyssey of a New York millionaire. Still, near daily reports from fan sites and bloggers have offered plenty of gossip about Pattinson’s activities and supposed partying at downtown hipster clubs. But a surprising amount of information has been successfully kept under wraps, says Wong. “There is still speculation as to where he’s actually staying,” Wong points out. “Nobody’s actually seen him come out of a hotel. I think there was one set of photos of him on a balcony but no one is even certain if he was just visiting somebody there or if he was actually staying there.” Fekete-Romanick says celebs of Pattinson’s calibre are never left alone by their private security guards, and it’s increasingly common to use dummy cars to elude fans and photographers. The tight wall around Pattinson stands in stark contrast to the relative accessibility of Farrell, who is in town filming “Total Recall,” says Wong. “People see him all the time. He’s walking up and down the street going to the gym, going to Whole Foods,” he notes. Pattinson, meanwhile, appears to have perfected the art of laying low. “He has done a good job,” Wong says.
