Actor Robert Pattinson says working with director David Cronenberg on Cosmopolis made him realise the kind of film star he wants to be. The 25-year-old, who shot for the upcoming movie in the summer, said he found the freedom Cronenberg was given to create his vision of the film very inspiring, reported Contactmusic.

“I just worked with David Cronenberg on Cosmopolis and just to see him, he’s left alone by everyone because he’s proved himself time and time again. But I mean, it’s really strange, I’ve never really worked with someone with absolutely no pressure from anywhere else apart from themselves and from the environment which they’ve chosen to work in.

“And it’s kind of nice to know that the pressure is not caused by compromises or anything like that, it’s just they’ve taken a responsibility on themselves and it’s really up to them to make it what they want,” Pattinson said.

The Hollywood heartthrob has completed his work on the Twilight Saga movies and is now keen to work on more independent films.

“Smaller movies are great because you don’t have to argue with so many people all the time. But really I kind of like arguing so there’s a balance either way. With independent movies, it’s nice to see when a director is so pleased with it. I mean, it’s so rare when someone’s given someone the money to do something and let them do it. But I really approach things in almost the exact same way until I’m on the set.”

He’s won an army of devotees playing a sexy vampire in The Twilight Saga, but as the penultimate movie is released, actor Robert Pattinson is already dreaming of an end to the “craziness” that comes with fame, writes SHEREEN LOW.

Three years ago Robert Pattinson was a little-known actor with a small part in two Harry Potter films and a handful of TV roles behind him.

Fast forward to 2011 and the British actor – known as “R-Patz” to his devotees – can’t even step out of his front door without feeling paranoid about being accosted and stalked by fans.

“A lot of the time you think people are way crazier than they are. You think they’ve been waiting for five hours when they’ve only been there for five minutes.

“I was in London once and no one found out where I was staying the whole time I was there, and then this girl, waiting in the courtyard of the hotel in complete pitch blackness, called out my name – and I thought, ‘This is it. I’m going to get killed’,” he says, grinning at the memory.

“The thing that drives me crazy is if people follow you when you leave the building. As soon as I lose those people, I’m fine.”

Robert Pattinson says it’s great being an actor because he doesn’t have to grow up like people in other careers and can delay being an adult.

The 25-year-old, who achieved worldwide success with his role as vampire Edward Cullen in the ‘Twilight Saga’ film series said one of the main benefits of his job is that he can have fun at work every day, reported Contactmusic.

“I’m living a life I didn’t really know existed and I can kind of delay being an adult for a while! It’s fun. I get to meet really interesting people who think they are making something great,” Pattinson said.

The actor recently finished shooting the final two Twilight movies and says he is now looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career.

“I’d be interested to see how I’m perceived in a couple of years. I don’t know how to predict anything. Edward’s so
specific, you can’t really get typecast. I mean, there are only so many parts that are benevolent vampires! It would be insane to do another one afterwards.”

Robert Pattinson has expressed his disliking towards Twitter, much to the disappointment of his fans who wish to follow him.

Despite the social networking site being the preferred mode of interaction for a host of celebrities and personalities like Cheryl Cole, President Barack Obama and Lady GaGa, the Twilight actor prefers to keep his distance.

When questioned about his plans of ever signing up for Twitter, the 25-year-old actor replied that he doubts the possibility.

“I doubt it. I mean, I’ve been so passionately against it for so many years, I’d feel like I was selling out,” the Daily Star quoted him as saying.
