Q: What has this past year been like for you? How are you dealing with things? Are you more comfortable with everything now?
Rob: I guess it’s inevitable that you become more comfortable. You still fight against some things. There’s nothing really scary about the franchise itself. I like all the people I work with. I generally have very few disagreements about the script or anything while we’re doing it, especially on New Moon. It just seemed so relaxed and easy. I’ve been on three different sets, since January 14th. I’ve had like three days off. I’m going to be on set all next year as well. I don’t know what doing errands and things is really like ’cause I haven’t had a sustained period of time where I’ve been off. I don’t know how it’s really changed. I still feel like I’m pretty much exactly the same, which is maybe not a good thing.
Q: Appearing in most of the movie as only a series of visions, did you feel disjointed from your cast mates at all? Did you wish you were in more of the film?
Rob: Those scenes were the hardest scenes. They weren’t really, at the time, but after I saw the first cut of the movie, they changed them quite a bit in the edit and ADR. It’s not Edward. It’s a manifestation of Bella’s loneliness and desperation. It was always very difficult. I asked Kristen, “How would you play it?” It’s her opinion, so that was hard. As for being alone, I’ve always felt a little bit aloof as the character, throughout the whole series. I think that’s how he is, so I didn’t feel any different.
I’ve added a new scans & with translation of Robert Pattinson interviewed by Joy Magazine. Thanks to Tiny Pixy for the translation!
Through a secret side door Robert Pattinson slips into the “Four Seasons”-Hotel in Beverly Hills and greets me with a shy “Hello”. Plaid shirt, black leather jacket, stubbles: the 6’1’’ tall Brit seems like a casual Bohemian and not like the currently very popular superstar. I sense, that he doesn’t like being in the sotlight: now and then his sight is sliding to the ground. But exactely this vulnerability, this insecurity makes his charisma so special.
JOY: When I met you last year, you’ve been a newcomer. But for all that happened you don’t seem to have changed at all. You still seem to be really down to earth and you are still attending your interviews by yourself. Do you forgo entourage?
Robert Pattinson: To have people around you permanently makes me nervous. I neither need a pr-assistant nor an adviser. The more people surround you, the more you get told what to do. I don’t care about other’s opinions most of the time. (laughs) Though I should stop being too self-deprecating and talking too negatively about myself in interviews, otherwise the fans start thinking â€right, he’s an idiot’” (laughs)
Twilight carried you on top of the Hollywood-Olympus. In what extend did your daily life change because of your fame?
R: I don’t notice that I’m actually a star, most of the time, because I’m working constantly since my break-out. After I finished Twilight we shot New Moon and right now we’re making the third sequel of the vampire-saga, Eclipse. On set it doesn’t matter that I’m popular, I get up at 5 A.M. and when I get home at night I just want to go to bed!
Which sides of fame you don’t like?
R: It’s so bizarre how press lunges at me and how much they report about me. That means for me that I barely can go outside by myself anymore – suddenly I have to hide or I need to plan tricky diversions. I don’t have a problem with getting recognized at the street but girl-hysteria overwhelms me.
I’ve updated a new interview and added some new scans of Robert Pattinson featured on the December issue of ‘Toda Teen‘ Brazil Magazine. Thanks to Mandy & Miazevedo for both scans and translation!
We are stubborn and possessive
It was in a hotel in Paris, during New Moon promotion, that Rob gave us this interview. Shy and always ready to crack a joke (but still being professional), the star doesn’t give the impression that let fame go to his head. But something changed: the actor that plays the vampire that makes every girl fell in love with in two seconds needs an agent controlling everything he says in interviews. But he still talked to TodaTeen about rumors, filming, future projects and more.
It’s insane outside the hotel… Really? For some reason France always seems to respond to the movie earlier. I was surprised when I came here. But it’s always nice, it’s crazy. I remember the first time I stayed in this hotel, everyone that worked here would say “that never happened before” about the crowd standing outside. It’s definitely an honor.
You also filmed some scenes in Italy. Was it crazy like that there? It was nice, “warmer” that Vancouver. It was like shooting a different movie. There were about 2000 extras and most of them were fans. They weren’t even being payed, just wanted to be part of the movie. There was a lot of expectation, especially when important scenes were filmed. Those days were fun.
I’ve added new Japanese scans of Robert promoting ‘New Moon’ featured in Japan various magazine such as Movie, Movie Star, Screen & Elle. They are slightly small preview but at least better than nothing.
I’ve added scans of Robert featured on the special cover of Entertainment Weekly, December 4 issue. Robert doesn’t seems to appear on many pages tho. Thanks to ______Thats Hott for them!
I’ve added some new scans & interview of Robert featured on a Greek Magazine, Eikonez. Thanks to ThinkingofRob and Paranolia for both scans and translation!
This era’s icon
What is it that makes millions of girls scream at every appearance of 23 year old Robert Pattinson? It is a reasonable male question, isn’t it?
In Harry Potter he went almost unnoticed. His potential to become an idol started showing with his lead role in “Twilight”. The second movie of the series, “New Moon”, has just come out making the biggest opening of all time with $72.7 million the first week end worldwide, and a 300,000 tickets opening week end in Greece.
The fascination associated with Pattinson now is many times bigger than the one associated with DiCaprio after the “Titanic”. So, there rises the inevitable question: What kind of icons are the ones needed in these times?
I’ve added scans and updated translated interview from the pages of Robert featured in the current issue of Italian Magazine, Panorama, Decmeber 3 issue. Thanks to Mayfrayn for both scans and translated interview!
EVERY WOMAN WANTS ME……BUT I’M SO BORED.
“I’m literally felt into my film career”. Robert Psttinson, actor of the Twilight Saga, is made object of a general frenzy without precedents. Kid oppressed by his sister ( “she dressed me as a girl and called me Claudia”), actor thanks to his father that “wanted to wake me up from my shyness”, today he earns 10 millions $ for movie, he is compared to Marlon Brando and he has two dreams: to record a disc and do not remain a vampire forever.
By Marco Giovannini – Los Angeles
Your character, vampire Edward Cullen, is 109 years old. You just has your 23rd birthday. What do you want to do in the next 86 years?
Robert Pattinson makes a good laugh, and this is a scoop, because in the first two movies of the Twilight Saga, gorgeous, pale and tortured, he practically never laughs.
“I know what I’ll do in the next two years, more or less, because I signed some contracts, but I’m not used to plan anything. I reason with my balls ( in England we call it instinct, in a poetic way), not with my brain. I’m slave of my subconscious”.
Call it battle of the abs. Or the teen screams heard round the world. Either way, Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon did more business on its opening weekend than any other movie this year. Now that it’s the biggest fall opening ever at $142.8 million and its opening day number of $72.7 million outgrossed The Dark Knight’s first-day figure, Hollywood should finally accept that women drive the box office in a big way. “It’s great that the greenlighters in town have realized that little girls go to the movies,” says MGM’s president of marketing Michael Vollman. “But this genre has worked forever. To Sir With Love was an angsty girl movie.”
